About The Role
To support FAIRR’s Just Transition programme. This will include the implementation of a FAIRR-wide coordinated strategy to encourage the adoption of a just protein transition by agri-food industry stakeholders i.e. investors, companies, and policy-makers. The role will entail project management, stakeholder management, company and industry analysis, basic financial/ economic modelling, slide writing, report writing, note-taking, and support the development of the organisation’s products and services including, but not limited to, benchmarks, models, engagements, member-specific content, and thematic research.
 


Key Responsibilities
Engagement
  • Support the day-to-day implementation of FAIRR’s just transition strategy. With the support and guidance of the senior R&E manager and senior ESG analysts, this involves:
    1. Engage with FAIRR internal functions i.e. Research & Engagements, Research & Data, Policy, Investor Outreach, Marketing and Comms, to build internal team capabilities that will ensure a coherent external narrative. 
    2. Engage with investors, companies, trade unions, NGOs, academia and external stakeholders for capacity building, collaboration opportunities, convene and support multi-stakeholder solutions, and promote key aspects of a just transition to drive change in agri-food supply chains. This includes, but is not limited to, communicating in an effective manner with investors and corporate representatives, preparing materials for calls, managing call notes, follow-ups, stakeholder mapping, conducting company assessments, and conducting research and analysis to develop a compelling, evidence-based business case specific to each audience.
  • Support manager with the creation of visual materials for presentations to diverse stakeholders including investors, companies, NGOs, policy-makers or wide-audience events.
  • Attend direct dialogue with companies and investors, webinars and events where relevant to the candidate’s area of work, with the objective of gaining exposure to external stakeholders and work toward presenting and representing FAIRR in the future. 
Writing
  • Assist senior analysts and managers in the writing of social risk reports, blogs, media and journalist requests and other written contents as necessary through research or input to specific sections of text.
Data
  • Take ownership of the company/country level data-base, qualitative research and sector-level analysis on a project basis per the needs of the team. This role focuses on integrating social risk provisions at the heart of corporate and national strategies for climate and nature adaptation and technology innovation in food supply chains, including on-farm solutions, deforestation drivers, protein diversification, diet shifts, food security, automation and AI, but will have exposure to nutrition, oceans, antibiotics, and water amongst others. 
  • Support manager with quantitative analysis of economic, industry and financial data to inform a compelling evidence-based narrative promoting the opportunities of embedding social risk provisions within corporate and national climate and nature strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Protein Producer Index team to contribute to company assessments, data and report feedback, KPI reviews, and any ad-hoc project that may involve the team’s input into Index work
  • As a close-knit and relatively small team, you may also be required to work with other parts of the FAIRR team on ad-hoc research requests, documents, events or other tasks, as required.
Essential Criteria
  • Suitable candidates are likely to have an understanding of financial, economic and ESG data management and analysis, including basic notions of balance sheet analysis, commodity and labour price forecasting, basic understanding of carbon accounting, ESG targets and other information to create a comparable baseline across a set of comparable companies. This can be from a combination of education and some professional experience. 
  • Excellent research and analytical skills – both qualitative and quantitative – with strong attention to detail. Ability to identify relevant trends in large data sets and derive conclusions based on the analysis. 
  • Strong project management skills, including an ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. Evidence of scoping and tracking projects and managing resources to time constraints.  
  • Demonstrable experience of interacting and working with senior business professionals and the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders. 
  • Experience working in or understanding corporate, sector or national transition/adaptation strategies, a food sector focus would be a plus. Knowledge of financial database Capital IQ, and trade and economic databases such as Eurostat, USDA, USBLS, World Bank Data, FAO Grain, WTO Global Trade Statistics, UN Comtrade or others, as well as knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks, such as CDP, TCFD, TNFD, ISSB and GRI, would be considered an advantage.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of responsible investment and shareholder engagement activities. Experience of working with investors would be a plus. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Proactive attitude and a confident and professional manner in dealing with senior business professionals. 
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint (and Office 365 in general).
